The Jim Moran Institute for Global Entrepreneurship and the Florida Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Network, the state’s principal provider of small business assistance, are pleased to announce the call for presentations for the 2019 Small Business Leadership Conference.

The conference, which will be held June 26 - 28, 2019 at the JW Marriott Orlando Grande Lakes, is the premier professional development and networking opportunity for small business owners, managers, executives, economic and community development leaders, and nonprofits.

The conference, held in its ninth year, will provide an opportunity for attendees to share innovative ideas, best practices, and learn vital information to bolster their professional development and business growth. 

The Jim Moran Institute and Florida SBDC Network are seeking proposals for workshops that align with the conference theme “Igniting Strategic Growth,” including business management (culture, recruiting and retaining employees, etc.); business resiliency (disaster readiness, cybersecurity, etc.); financing, market growth (international trade, government contracting, market research, etc.); marketing (SEO, social media, email marketing, branding, etc.); and nonprofit management.

Proposal Requirements:

  • Brief speaker biography

  • Three to five learning objectives

  • Presentation summary / workshop description

  • Presentations must align with the conference theme and target an audience with intermediate to advanced knowledge

  • Presentations must provide attendees specific, actionable steps that they can take when they leave

  • Handouts are encouraged, but are not required

  • Presenters should include links to relevant presentations conducted and/or materials and publications produced

  • Incomplete submissions will not be considered.

  • The deadline for submissions is January 31, 2019.

Presenter Participation Requirements and Criteria:

  • All handouts are the responsibility of the presenter and must be submitted to AK Consulting Group electronically by the specified deadline. Handouts will be made available electronically for participants.

  • Presenters are responsible for bringing their presentation on a USB flash drive.

  • Presenters should be prepared to discuss how their topic applies to for-profit, nonprofit, B2B, and B2C businesses.

  • Using presentation time to sell or market products or services is strictly prohibited.

If selected, the conference registration fee will be waived; however, lodging, transportation, and other costs will be the responsibility of the presenter.
